Fred Shapiro and Sam Clements posted 1896 antedatings for "tsunami" in 2010 (Jul 28 and Jul 26, respectively), which have not yet made it into the OED (which has 1897).
Slightly earlier:

"Roused to action by cries of "tsunami," "tsunami," ("tidal wave," "tidal wave") from those who realized the impending disaster, the inhabitants rushed from their homes into a night of pitchy blackness to be overtaken and engulfed in their flight to higher ground."
