Until my dying day, I will remember watching the 1980 Republican National Convention, in which Ronald Reagan and George Bush were nominated to run against Jimmy Carter ("Grits") and Walter Mondale ("Fritz").  Walking around on the convention floor was someone with a placard that said "Fritz and Grits Give me the Shits".
