I can't remember whether I ever used "change stations" WRT TV or not. I
probably did. What I do remember is saying "a/the t[ele]v[ision] _set_" -
"turn on the television set/the TV set - and being annoyed by people who
used "a/the television" for the concrete instrument - "turn on (the)
television/(the) TV - instead of only for the abstract concept. Of course,
I've now long since dropped the "set."

IMO, they do still have TV stations, such as the local FOX-TV station,
which is, mildly interestingly, WOLF-TV, on channel 5.
