[Ads-l] _An_ strongly warming tropical Atlantic

Caption for a NYTimes chart from an article on climate change, one of four.
Another has the caption "An atmosphere heavy with water."  There was some
suggestion that the "An" was NYT style guide "split inifinitive" sort of
thing, where that correlates to the starting vowel of "Atlantic" but the
gloss above the charts uses "a particular atmospheric pressure pattern" -
though, I guess, that could be the "a" and "pattern" (or "pressure
pattern") agreeing, though wouldn't that mean the style guide would also
bless "a atmospheric pressure pattern."  My ear, anyway, recoils at the
sound of them both.
