On May 22, 2010, Laszlo Hanyecz and Jercos (Jeremy Sturdivant) made the first transaction of bitcoin for tangible goods, an exchange of 10K BTC for two Papa John’s Pizzas (http://bitcoinpizzaday.com/about/ <http://bitcoinpizzaday.com/about/>, http://bitcoinwhoswho.com/jercosinterview <http://bitcoinwhoswho.com/jercosinterview>).

As has been much reported since then, May 22 is celebrated as Bitcoin Pizza Day. See "The Founder Of Bitcoin Pizza Day Is Celebrating Today In The Perfect Way” (https://bit.ly/2sg4LJR <https://bit.ly/2sg4LJR>) for a recent example.

The earliest instance of “Bitcoin Pizza Day” I found is May 10, 2012 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=80844.0 <https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=80844.0>): "[BPD] Bitcoin Pizza Day - PREPARE!” by phelix.

For the insatiably curious, a Twitter account (https://twitter.com/bitcoin_pizza <https://twitter.com/bitcoin_pizza>) keeps track of how much 10K BTC is worth on a daily basis (saying it’s the amount that was paid for one pizza).
