Not to mention *chief *(> *chef*) < Old North French /čiǽf/ (~ /čiǽv⁺/
deriv. stem) vis-à-vis Old South French /kap/ (~ /kab⁺/). (Hall 1976,
#1190). (Cf. tautological *head chef*, OE *heafod*, *etc*., *etc*., & *etc*
.)  As in:  "After accidentally decapitating Capone's head chef, his chief
capo (or captain) was kaput (i.e.* Kablooey*!").
