I’ve been trying to recall a paper I read in the past year or two arguing that the Internet has enabled a new kind of accelerated language change. It cited examples that included the rise of uptalk, the construction ‘because NP’ and others. I may also have heard the authors present their findings somewhere. I think there were two authors, and data came from the US, South Africa, and either New Zealand or Australia. Can anyone help me track down the reference?
