May be British - Zog Zeigler, a BBC motoring correspondent - described in 2004
He used to have a head of hair, and was as fit as a racing snake but
admits letting himself go to pieces over the years. He's been happily
married for many moons, and is father to two children.

Irish BBC broadcaster who's show ran 1982-92. Certainly seems to have
popularised the expression.
