I’m listening to an interview on NPR of two rural nurses, one or both of whom is from North Dakota. I believe one of them said “uptake” to mean “uptick.” You can listen for yourself https://www.npr.org/2020/12/07/943968708/rural-nurses-on-what-its-like-to-fight-pandemic-within-smaller-health-care-syste <https://www.npr.org/2020/12/07/943968708/rural-nurses-on-what-its-like-to-fight-pandemic-within-smaller-health-care-syste>
The Eggcorn Forum seems to have it going only in the opposite direction:http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2765 <http://eggcorns.lascribe.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2765>
