Scudder, waving his Gatling gun over his head.

1914 _Evening Times_ (Grand Forks, N.D.) (Jan. 20) 2:  Hagel had said to
him: "I've got to get a Gat." ("Gat" was the slang term for a Gatling gun,
or automatic revolver.)
