[Ads-l] Another "chalk full" sighting

I hear awe-droppers all over the place.  Sadly m-w.com reinforces it . The word "awe" itself is pronounced "ah" by the female speaker icon.  The word "saw" wasn't bad but was "sod" for "sawed".  Fraud was frod.   "Broad" wasn't bad but "claw" was "clah".  These mispronunciations defy the phonetic symbols attached.  It seems like females are the worse awe-droppers.  To me it's the biggest change to US English in at least 60 years.   I can't recommend m-w.com.

Actually, it’s a result of the Northern Cities Vowel Shift described in detail by Labov and many others, and a clash between those in the relevant dialect and those not.
