Surely the romantic portion of the overcoat would be the portion colloquially thought to be over the heart (i.e., the left breast).

Thanks. They wouldn't (elaborate, that is), if the expression bordered on
indecency, especially if it was in common colloquial use. I guess that's
the best we can do without further evidence.
