There is a famous example illustrating the value of a serial comma. I
received a request to determine whether the example is apocryphal. The
example supposedly originally appeared in "The Times" of London,  but
I believe it first appeared in "The Sunday Times".

Perhaps someone with access to the Gale Archive of "The Sunday Times"
would be willing to search for the statement below. If you find a
match please send me a PDF of the article, a PDF of the full page, and
the complete metadata. You will be acknowledged in the QI article.
