[Ads-l] Antedating of "Dystopia"

Without checking the sources, I would assume that "dustopia" arose from
transliterating the Greek letter upsilon "υ" (uppercase: "Υ"), pronounced
in classical Greek like German "ü" or French "u", as <u> instead of the
more usual <y>.
