OEDO 1969: "A student or graduate of Yale University."
ADS-L 17 Feb 1932: post from 18 Apr 2014 by BG Zimmer.

'Yalie' shows up in a quote from a Beloit _Round Table_ article of
uncertain provenance and even more uncertain meaning, in the "Notes from
Exchanges" column in _The Yale Daily Record_ of 22 March 1879, 153/2:

What makes Beloit like Yalie so?
'Cause Yalie loves Beloit you know.

https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=yul.yg15_r_245_v07_i13&view=1up&seq=13&q1=Yalie

I don't have access to early issues of the Beloit _Round Table_, and so
can't verify or date the quote in YDR.
