[Ads-l] Odd antedating of "dogey"

I’ve heard the minced oath “by dogey(s),” growing up in southcentral Kentucky.  It’s presumably an alteration of “by God.”  Apparently it’s rarer than I had thought.  I don’t think it has anything to do with dogie, a calf.
