[Ads-l] Is "Jazzum" / "Jassum" the Etymon of "Jazz" ?

The Mr. Andrews of the 1900 LA Times article is Elisha Benjamin Andrews (1844-1917), President of Brown U. from 1889 to 1898. His presidential papers are in Brown U. Archives, which "not only includes material regarding the administration of Brown University but also papers of a personal nature."
I would guess that he used the word more than once.
Though the word does not appear in the Brown Daily Record newspaper archive online, maybe if someone with credentials contacted that student newspaper, perhaps they would assign a reporter to check the Andrews papers for a human interest story.

PS google books advanced lists a frat "jazzum master" (dancer? cheerleader?) in U. of Oklahoma Magazine v6/2 1916 p22.
