Which is distinct from "parkette," which is a Canadianism (restricted to just Toronto?) for a small park, often created in traffic islands or other spandrels of unused space. "Parkette" dates to the 1950s.

"Parklet" is different than "streetery" both in signification, use (both
term and referent), and development. There's a wide variety of
"parklets" and their use is primarily to improve walkability by
providing street shade, pedestrian rest areas, and reducing street
parking, which can be part of traffic calming and improving pedestrian
safety.
I'm familiar with "parklet" from my biking & walking advocacy volunteer
work.
