I encountered the notion of "photobashing" while exploring art videos
on YouTube. YouTube has many tutorials about photobashing such as the
following:

The OED does not have an entry for "photobash" or "photobashing".
Wiktionary does have a pertinent entry for "photobash" with a solid
2014 citation.
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/photobash#English
[Begin excerpt]
photobash verb
(computer graphics) To compose a digital image from multiple assets,
such as photos and 3D models, with artistic interpretation to modify
and blend them together seamlessly.
2014 November 18, "Inquisition", in The Art of Dragon Age, Dark Horse
Comics, page 22:
Early on, we used sketches and a mash-up photo technique called
"photobashing" to try to capture the spirit of the Inquisition's
fortress. Once actual construction began, we used the development
model as a base for more detailed production paintings.

I conjecture that the word "photobash" was constructed as an analog of
"kitbash".
Early instances of "photobash" are sometimes difficult for me to
interpret. The instance below from 2004 may refer to a mock-up of a
toy shown in a picture.

Several of these choices have the oddity that their jet instakes are
colored seperately from their torsos, which is... not how the toy
works. However- the initial photobash of Sunstorm's toy had this color
approach, indicating that Takara was at least considering the paint
maskign it'd require. (IMO, it disrupts the vehicle mode's
appearance.)

Below is another instance from 2004. But "photo 'bashing' software"
might correspond to general photoediting software.

Be 'aware' that half the 'battle' lies in the photo 'bashing' software
that you aquire & use, as opposed to battling the digital camera
itself.
