"Feels" as a clipped form of "feelings" has been around for a while -- it
got nominated in the 2012 ADS Word of the Year selection (in the Most
Unnecessary category!). We covered it in the Spring 2013 installment of
"Among the New Words" (http://bit.ly/ATNW88-1), with examples going back to
2009.

As for "in my feels," the longer version with "feelings" got popular in
2018 when Drake released the hit single "In My Feelings" ("This shit got me
in my feelings..."). It also appeared in other rap songs from around the
same time, as in Juice WRLD's "Devil Horns" ("So I don't know why she got
me up in my feelings...").

Urban Dictionary has entries for "in my feelings" from 2012 ("emotional,
thinking about stuff"), and it has "in my feels" from 2017 ("When something
brings you deep into your emotions").
