The second episode, for instance, chronicles "the back-alley songwriting duel of 1978 . . . the day yacht rock lost its innocence" that pitted Daryl Hall and a karate-chopping John Oates against Kenny Loggins and Doobies singer Michael MacDonald.  Episode 3 depicts Kenny Loggins' betrayal of the yacht-rock principle of "smooth grooves" when, persuaded by Steve Perry of Jouney, he records a hard-rocking song for the movie Caddyshack.
