As I have said before, I am sympathetic with all sides of the copyright issues, as an author, as a compiler of quotation books, as a researcher, as a historical scholar, as a librarian.  The Internet Archive methodology may well be doomed because of copyright law.  But it sure is nice to be able to search copyrighted materials.
