1938 _The Call_ (Kansas City) 16 Sept. 22/3 (ProQuest)  He [Sterling Broan] shows the development of the Negro character from the status of clown, inferior or menial on through the Harlem renaissance to the present day.

1939 _The Call_ (Kansas City) 24 Feb. 14/1 (Newspapers.com)  Prof. M. B. Tolson of Wiley college gave a discussion of the "Harlem Renaissance of Negro Literature."
