It's the Whipple of Whipple's disease. He was Professor of Research
Medicine and Dean at UCSF at the time of publication. Best I can tell, his
research specialty in this period was anemia, particularly using dogs,
which is what this group of atticles covers. But also note that even.the
1937 citation isn't purely about psychology.
