My understanding was that October was seen as continuing indefinitely as a sign that it was impossible to get past the immediate significance of the invasion, so November 1 would be "October 32," and so forth.  But on that calculation, October 88 would be December 27, not January 1.  Was the "it's October 88" statement made on December 27?

But it's not quite yet 88 days since Oct. 7.

Oct 7 Julian date is 280; add 88 and get 368. Subtract 365 for the year change, and 88 days after Oct 7 is Jan 3.
