kosher (OED, modern spelling, 1855)

1849 _Public Ledger_ (Philadelphia) 17 Mar. 4/4 (America's Historical Newspapers)  Two cattle will be cut "Kosher." Our Hebrew friends are invited to partake of this fine beef.

1854 _American Israelite_ 20 Oct. 117 (Newspapers.com)  Knowing that no Jews were permitted to live in Petersburg, I did not know where to get a _kosher_ dinner.
