Promised Land (Refuge for Black Americans, Not in OED)

1827 Poulson's American Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia) 18 July 2/5 (Genealogy Bank)

The following was written several years since, (by a gentleman of Jefferson County, Va.) It was intended as a feeble auxiliary in support of the Colonization Society ...

Forget not Mead and Washington,
Nor Clay, nor each American,
Who to this plan have lent a hand
That we may see our promised land,
                                          Oh Africa ! &c.

Our fathers, brothers, sisters, go,
And take with them the plough and hoe;
As soon as there, with a strong hand,
They'll cultivate Liberia's land.
                                         Oh Africa ! &c.
