Dear friends and colleagues,
Many of you have heard by now of the passing of Bob Bayley on December 27. Bob was the president of the American Dialect Society in 2015-2016 and a formidable scholar across a whole set of areas of linguistics as well as being a valued teacher and mentor. At the upcoming ADS meeting in Philadelphia, we’ll hold a memorial session on Friday 1:00-1:30, with many thanks to Tricia Cukor-Avila and others for organizing this. We’ll do a full memorial session at next year’s meeting.

This is a great loss.
