On a side note, it jumped out to my eye that the acronym used in the
current brouhaha is DEIA, with accessibility folded into it. This is not
how I've ever used it, but then I rewatched a National Science Foundation
webinar from last year yesterday, and it was also all over their materials.
Digging a little bit, this document claims that federal initiatives under
this exact label, DEIA, took up since the 2022 federal employee survey:
https://nsf-gov-resources.nsf.gov/files/2023_FEVS_Gwide_Final_Report.pdf?VersionId=Q3efjYwoAMdWh84Ch5Qze5yNd07wnciH
.
On my end of the world, DEI was sometimes expanded to JEDI, with the J
standing for justice.
Best,
Chris
