<quote> If there is somebody among you who works on the history of the
English language before the modern period and doesn't plan to retire
before the next four years or so, can they please contact me privately.
Or if you know somebody that is not on this list, can you please give me
the individual's contact information or ask them to contact me?<end quote>
There is, or maybe was, a History of English Language (HEL-L) mailing list. The following should advise you on how to subscribe:
hel-l at wiz.cath.vt.edu (Multiple recipients of list) Apparently there are some who wish to unsubscribe, but who don't know how to do so. If you send a message to the Discussion Group, that message will be sent to everybody in the group, but it won't get your name off of the List. So, don't send an UNSUBSCRIBE message to HEL-L at wiz.cath.vt.edu. What you have to do is quite easy. To unsubscribe from the History of the English Language Discussion Group [HEL-L], you have to send a message to the robot that runs the List Server. To get off the list, send an unsigned, single-line note to the robot that processes the list's messages. This address is: LP2 at ebbs.english.vt.edu and your note should say simply "signoff hel-l" (without the quotes). This should be in the message area. Leave the subject block blank.
