Barry Popik has added another important antedating to his legendary list of discoveries.  He has found the term "Big Easy" (nickname for New Orleans, OED 1970) as far back as 1952, in numerous columns by Bob Lefkowitz in the Franklin (Louisiana) Banner-Tribune.  Here is the earliest one:
