AI art is causing an upheaval in the art domain. AI art generators
continue to improve, and it has become increasingly difficult to judge
whether an artwork was created directly by a human. Some artists have
attempted to authenticate their artworks by posting time-lapse videos
showing the entire drawing / painting process.

This type of video is also used by teachers who wish to help students
by depicting the incremental construction of an artwork. A teacher
will record the painting process brushstroke by brushstroke and share
the video with students.

An "eraser artist" creates deceptive process videos. The strategy used
by eraser artists applies to digital art. A finished artwork is
covered by one or more digital layers which show rougher versions of
the finished artwork. The "eraser artist" uses the digital eraser tool
to incrementally remove parts of the rough layers to reveal the lower
layers with more details. When this is done carefully it superficially
looks like a legitimate process video.

What is an eraser artist?
Art Tik Tok's trend of eraser artists is a form of drawing and or
painting where the so-called artist starts by making large blobs of
shape that represent the face and/or figure of the person, place or
thing they happen to be casually drawing and then gradually carve out
the features of the face by using what people have alleged to be the
eraser tool.
