1820 London Packet and Lloyd's Evening Post 5 May 4/4 (Social History Archive)  The Sheffield Iris says, "We are happy to hear that the razor manufacturers, who have become members of the Sheffield Trade Union, have collected sufficient among themselves for the extra relief of those out of work.

1825 Morning Advertiser (London) 23 May 1 / 2 (Social History Archive)  A weekly Journal, to be called THE JOURNEYMAN, will be published on Sunday, the 5th of June next, ... the various Trade Unions have pledged themselves to support it.

NOTE: The quoted issue of the Sheffield Iris presumably would be a further antedating.
