"I'm helping Europe. I'm helping NATO, and until the last few days when I
told them about Iceland, they loved me,” Trump said, appearing to misname
Greenland. “They called me daddy. A very smart man said, ‘He’s our daddy,
he’s running it.’"

Some may recall last year's official White House Christmas card showing the
President smiling in a Santa hat with the caption "DADDY'S HOME!"

Though I cannot find an online reference, I may have heard the beginning of
this trend.

During the 2015-16 election season (possibly on Election Day 2016), a CNN
reporter asked a woman why she was voting for Donald Trump. She said very
simply, "He makes me feel like daddy's home." Or possibly "It's
like...." It was quite striking. (In response to a question about what
she thought of Donald Trump's personality, another said, "I think his
personality is a lot like God's. He's a warm, caring father. And I really
believe he's been sent to help us at this time.")
