1945 Journal and Guide (Norfolk, Va.) 21 Apr. 16/5 (Newspapers.com)  James P. Johnson, "dean of jazz pianists,"will give the first in a series of "bop" concerts at Carnegie Hall on Friday evening.

NOTE:  I have previously posted an Apr. 1945 citation for "bop," but this is a much better and much more certain citation for the term.
