jagleg preacher (OED 1943)  1840 Boon's Lick Times 26 Mar. 3/3 (Newspapers.com)  The P. M. General lately removed Mr. Aull from the post office in Lexington, without charge, and gave it to a jack-leg preacher.

jacklegged preacher (OED 1913)  1875 Xenia (Ohio) News 2 Jan. 2/4 (Newspapers.com)  He will first learn how much powder exploded on a ram's tail it take to blow his horns off, and then divide the product by one half-fledged pedagogue and one jack-legged preacher.
