[Ads-l] "Ozempidemic"

[Nancy Friedman]

Portmanteau of Ozempic and epidemic:
"In dorm rooms and sorority houses across the country, women are
stashing Wegovy
pills

under their twin beds and sharing vials of compounded retatrutide they
ordered from China with their roommates, hoping if they shrink down enough

they will get into the sisterhood of their dreams. Students told me there’s
an 'Ozempidemic' on campuses in which everyone is taking it but nobody is
talking about it." - The Cut, September 16, 2026

Most of the citations I found are from September, but there was an earlier
surge after the June 2024 release of a podcast titled "The Celebrity
Ozempidemic."
