In an interview podcast episode I was transcribing, the firm name PricewaterhouseCoopers came out as "price warehouse cubes" four times, and once as "merger cubes". Same speaker, same episode. The acoustic shape survives; the word boundaries and the stress pattern don't.
Two more from the same batch: "Morgan Stanley" rendered as "Stanley Morgan", and a show's own name in its opening line ("ADWIT") rendered as "AdWords".
What interests me is the direction of the error. The transcript tends to slide toward a common phrase, not the odd one a human ear lands on. Has anyone here collected these the way mondegreens get collected?
