*December 28, 2021*: Yesterday the Executive Council of the American
Dialect Society met and voted to move the 2022 annual meeting completely
online in response to rising Covid infection rates, flight cancellations,
and participants being unable or unwilling to attend.

All sessions, including the word-of-the-year vote, will happen online.
Conference attendees are highly encouraged to register for both the LSA and
ADS conferences through the LSA website
<https://www.linguisticsociety.org/event/lsa-2022-annual-meeting>, which
will support the organizations' attempts to keep the conferences going in
the face of the pandemic.

The schedule on the ADS website will be updated as more information is
gathered and video links are established in place of room assignments.

Session chairs will be sent information on how to perform their video host
duties.

If you have any questions, please contact Executive Director Julie Roberts,
julie.roberts.uvm at gmail.com, or communications VP Grant Barrett,
gbarrett at americandialect.org.

Best wishes, and be well.
