Hi folks,
you (or someone you know) might be interested in this.
The Fieldwork Group at Yale has been creating a series of videos aimed at
language communities that point out ways that linguistics probably can (and
probably cannot) help support language projects of various kinds.
This all started when we looked around and realized that we knew of many
resources aimed at *linguists* talking about how to work with language
communities, but we didn't know of many or any resources that started from
the assumption that the language community owned the project but wanted
support from a linguist.
We just released the third video, which is all about language apps:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFXQV7mXQRQ&list=PLAHGM3bDMsn-P1D-4Ank0n_a5vynlngxU&index=3
The series so far includes:
1. General overview of how to work with a linguist
2. Language projects (children’s storybook & dictionary)
3. Language apps
And there are more to come!
Please share widely.
