On behalf of the 57^th ?Algonquian Conference planning committee, we would like to share with you the following announcement and kindly ask that you share with your networks. *_Save the Date_* The 57th Algonquian Conference (La version fran?aise appara?t ci-dessous.) The 57th Algonquian Conference will be held in Winnipeg at the University of Winnipeg, on Treaty One Territory, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the M?tis Nation, from Thursday, October 16th to Sunday, October 19th, 2025. This conference is an international meeting for Indigenous and non-indigenous scholars and community members to share research relating to Algonquian peoples, the largest First Peoples group in Canada. Fields of interest include anthropology, archaeology, art, biography, education, ethnography, ethnobotany, folklore, geography, history, land-based education, language education, linguistics, literature, music, indigenous studies, political science, psychology, religion, sociology, and theatre. Registration will begin on Thursday, October 16th. We will begin the morning of October 17th with a plenary session and keynote speaker, followed by regular conference sessions from Friday morning to Sunday noon. An evening of food, refreshments, and entertainment focusing on the use of languages of the Algonquian family will take place on Friday, October 17th.
