I hope this email finds you well. On behalf of the 57^th  Algonquian 
Conference planning committee, we would like to share with you the 
following announcement and kindly ask that you share with your networks.

The 57th Algonquian Conference

The 57th Algonquian Conference will be held in Winnipeg at the 
University of Winnipeg, on Treaty One Territory, the traditional 
territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, 
and the homeland of the Métis Nation, from Thursday, October 16th to 
Sunday, October 19th, 2025.
This conference is an international meeting for Indigenous and 
non-indigenous scholars and community members to share research relating 
to Algonquian peoples, the largest First Peoples group in Canada. Fields 
of interest include anthropology, archaeology, art, biography, 
education, ethnography, ethnobotany, folklore, geography, history, 
land-based education, language education, linguistics, literature, 
music, indigenous studies, political science, psychology, religion, 
sociology, and theatre.
Registration will begin on Thursday, October 16th. We will begin the 
morning of October 17th with a plenary session and keynote speaker, 
followed by regular conference sessions from Friday morning to Sunday 
noon. An evening of food, refreshments, and entertainment focusing on 
the use of languages of the Algonquian family will take place on Friday, 
October 17th.
Additional information and a call for papers will be released shortly.

La 57e Congrès des Algonquinistes
La 57e Congrès des Algonquinistes se tiendra à Winnipeg, à l'Université 
de Winnipeg, sur le territoire du Traité n°1, le territoire traditionnel 
des peuples Anishinaabeg, Cri, Oji-Cree, Dakota et Déné, et patrie de la 
nation métisse, du jeudi 16 octobre au dimanche 19 octobre 2025.
Cette conférence est une réunion internationale permettant aux 
universitaires et aux membres de la communauté autochtones et non 
autochtones de partager des recherches relatives aux peuples 
algonquiens, le plus grand groupe de Premiers Peuples au Canada. Les 
domaines d'intérêt comprennent l'anthropologie, l'archéologie, l'art, la 
biographie, l'éducation, l'ethnographie, l'ethnobotanique, le folklore, 
la géographie, l'histoire, l'éducation basée sur la terre, 
l'enseignement des langues, la linguistique, la littérature, la musique, 
les études autochtones, les sciences politiques, la psychologie, la 
religion, la sociologie et le théâtre.
Les inscriptions débuteront le jeudi 16 octobre. La matinée du 17 
octobre débutera par une séance plénière et un discours d'ouverture, 
suivie de séances de conférence régulières du vendredi matin au dimanche 
midi. Une soirée de restauration, de rafraîchissements et de 
divertissements axée sur l'utilisation des langues de la famille 
algonquienne aura lieu le vendredi 17 octobre.
