          FOUNDATION CHAIR OF LINGUISTICS OR APPLIED LINGUISTICS


Applications are invited for appointment to the Foundation Chair in the
Department of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics.  The University seeks a
scholar of international  distinction in teaching and research in one or more
branches of linguistics and/or applied linguistics,  who has a broad vision
of the range of enquiry within both linguistics and applied linguistics, and
who will provide academic leadership in these fields.  The Foundation
Professor will be expected to  serve frequently as Head of
the new Department. Applicants should include a statement addressing the
above criteria and their vision of the strategic development of the new
Department.

Salary:  AUD 80,176 per annum
