[An-lang] Javanese sandhi

Does anyone know if Javanese-style vowel sandhi is present in other
related languages?  Was this a natural development within Javanese
or
is it under influence from Sanskrit?  If from Sanskrit, was it
primarily a function of the borrowed/adapted Pallavi orthography?

I appreciate any responses, and would be much obliged for any
references.
