Sydney Parkinson's Savu list

Thanks for the website url, that I've meanwhile linked on to. It's quite
fascinating, also the various other wordlists. I'm really sorry I had
been utterly ignorant of the source earlier. I've now started downloading
from southseas.nla.gov.au/journals.

I've also started looking around for original (nondigital) sources, and
it seems that besides the 1773 and 1784 editions there had apparently
also been one in 1771, but I can't tell yet whether it already contained
all the wordlists (judging from part of the title text I've seen, it does
seem to have included the "Otahitee" list). I'll perhaps be able to find
out more this weekend.

I hope in any case to see the 1773 edition in five-six weeks time from
now, and I've also found a place where I can probably gain insight into
a facsimile reprint of the 1784 edition.

My main interest is not so much in the Savu list, as much more in some of
the other lists (most intriguing is the so-called "Sumatra" list).
I'll be back if I have anything new (particularly about the 1771 ed.).

Aloha,
Waruno
