A very significant paper has just been published in the Proceedings Of the National Academy of Sciences
(It must, by definition, be very significant in light of the paucity of linguistic papers in mainstream science journals).
Coevolution of languages and genes on the island of Sumba, eastern Indonesia
For those without access to PNAS, I have uploaded it to:
http://coconutstudio.com/Coevolution%20of%20languages%20and%20genes%20on%20the%20island%20of%20Sumba,%20eastern%20Indonesia%20--%20Lansing%20et%20al.pdf

I would be very interested to hear Austronesianists' critiques of what seems to be very revealing methodology and findings
best regards

Siargao Island, The Philippines.
I have started a weblog - Notes From a Small Island, at http://smallislandnotes.blogspot.com/ about the island, Austronesian languages and customs, etc.
My website at www.coconutstudio.com is about the island and its people, coastal early humans, fishing, coconuts, bananas and whatever took my fancy at the time.odology and findings.
