About Waruno's "connotation of english "bro" ":
I would also say "Bro" does not have a pronounced derogatory meaning. It is
a familiar term which would be innappropriate in an official context, but
nothing more.
"Bra" is simply a popularized, phonetic spelling of "bro" voiced with an
accent, like Bill mentionned, from the carribbean, and also from Hawai'i and
some Pacific Islands, and is now used by anyone and everyone.
