Paul Geraghty has asked me to post the following announcement to the list:

Austronesianists will be saddened to hear of the passing away of George
Milner last week, at his home in Somerset, England. He spent most of his
career at SOAS (University of London) and is perhaps best known for his
work on Samoan (Samoan Dictionary) and Fijian (Fijian grammar), and was the
keynote speaker at the Fourth International Conference on Austronesian
Linguistics, held in Suva in 1984. He retired from SOAS in 1990, and
continued to work on Pacific languages in his retirement, though sadly was
unable to complete his projected Fijian-English dictionary.
