First Call for Abstracts
The Twenty-Fifth
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MALAY/INDONESIAN LINGUISTICS
(ISMIL 25)
6-8 August 2022

Papers presented at ISMIL are concerned with the Malay/Indonesian
language in any of its varieties. In addition to the standardized
versions of Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Indonesia, papers are particularly
welcome dealing with non-canonical isolects such as regional dialects of
Malay and Indonesian, contact varieties, and other closely related
Malayic languages. Papers may be in any of the subfields of linguistics,
and may represent variegated approaches and diverse theoretical
persuasions. Presentations at ISMIL are delivered in English.

Persons wishing to present a paper at the symposium are invited to
submit a one-page abstract in electronic form (preferably pdf, but
MsWord also acceptable) to David Gil at the following address:

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 15 May 2022
Notification: 1 June 2022
[Early submissions also possible; notifications will be made within two
weeks of receipt of submission.]

A Special Session will focus on Malay/Indonesian and other languages.We
encourage submissions on studies comparing Malay/Indonesian and other
languages from various perspectives.Possible topics include contact
between Malay/Indonesian and other languages, contrastive study of the
grammars of Malay/Indonesian and other languages, influence of other
languages found in foreign speakers of Malay/Indonesian, comparison of
socio-political situations surrounding Malay/Indonesian and other
languages, issues in incorporating Malay/Indonesian in a
cross-linguistic project (e.g. linguistic typology, language resource
development), etc.We are planning to publish selected papers as a
special issue of NUSA. Linguistic studies of languages in and around
