CALL FOR PAPERS AND PANELS (Second Circular)

17-ICAL – 2027

Seventeenth International Conference on

Austronesian Linguistics

1-5 August 2027

Meisei University, Tokyo, Japan

Call for individual papers:

We are pleased to announce that the 17th International Conference on Austronesian Linguistics will take place at Meisei University, Tokyo, on August 1-5, 2027 (on-site only). Scholars are invited for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes for discussion) and/or poster presentations on any aspect of language or linguistics specifically related to Austronesian languages.

Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author. Abstracts should be single-spaced, 12-point font, with 1-inch or 2.5-cm margins on all sides. The main text must be limited to one page, and only the data/tables/examples and references may appear on the second page. Authors’ names should not appear (on the abstract itself), but the abstract should include a title.

Abstracts should be submitted via the Pretalx platform (the link will be shown in our website https://sites.google.com/view/17ical/ ), except the panel proposal, which should be compiled by the panel organizer(s), and sent via e-mail (see Call for panels).

Call for panels:

Theme- or area-related panels are also invited. Each panel must consist of 3–6 presentations (including a discussion session, if any). Panel proposals must be submitted by the panel organizer as a single PDF file containing the information specified below, following the format and submission guidelines outlined here.

1. Panel Information

Panel title

Panel abstract/rationale explaining the overall theme and scope of the panel (200–300 words)

Keywords (3–5 words)

Organizer’ name, affiliation, email address

2. Proposed program

Presentation titles

Presenter’ name, affiliation, email address

Discussant’s name, affiliation, email address (if applicable)

3. Individual abstracts

Presentation title

Presenter’ name, affiliation, email address

Abstract (The main text must be limited to one page; only data, tables, examples, and references may appear on a second page.)

Email subject line: “Panel Submission”

The email must be sent with the contact addresses of all organizer(s), presenters, and the discussant (if applicable) included in the cc line.
